The ARD’s Communications, Outreach & Leadership Engagement Branch performs duties that include development of strategic communication, social marketing, outreach, web, video, and social media content. Additionally, the branch supports engagements to include internal Army, national conferences/workshops, and partnerships with Department of Defense (DoD) and non-DoD agencies in an effort to educate audiences about the directorate’s programs to include Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Prevention (SHARP), Suicide Prevention, Resilience, Personal Readiness, Alcohol & Substance Abuse as well as other programs and initiatives that fall under the Directorate’s domain in order to share best practices, lessons learned, and gain insight into new ideas. In an effort to effectively accomplish this mission, the branch needs resources dedicated to the planning, development, and implementation of these activities.

Purpose:
The GKG Human Resources (HR) Academy is dedicated to preparing the next generation of Federal HR professionals by providing a strong, focused foundation in key Federal HR program areas and an understanding of the inter-relationships between all HR functions. The overarching goal for the HR Academy is to develop a cadre of qualified candidates ready to assume a role in operational HR supporting Federal agencies. The HR Academy provides training and certification in classification, staffing, onboarding, personnel action request (PAR) processing, benefits, payroll processing, and records management.
Process:
The HR Academy utilizes a cohort-based approach to create an environment for learning and growth. Each ‘cohort’ will consist of a small group of students working through a series of instructor-led or web-based assignments at the same pace, engaging in dialogue and coaching sessions to ensure understanding, and applying HR principles and policies to the full lifecycle of employee events. HRA training provides a foundation of theory and policy, mixed with practical application, and standard practices/procedures.
Candidate selection for the cohort will be on a competitive basis and will be considered as an entry point to the Federal Human Resources profession. The Academy session is expected to encompass 6 months of concentrated coursework along with a variety of highly structured human resources assignments designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill to perform higher level and/or independent assignments. Upon completion of the program and certification of readiness, graduates will be appointed to a functional team to continue their Federal HR career.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience providing administrative support in an office environment
- Knowledge of and skill using various computer equipment and software equipment to prepare documents, input data, compile and generate reports and monitor administrative controls
- Proven ability to follow through on commitments

The selected candidate will have the skills required to develop compliant and compelling proposal volumes. The responsibilities of this role include presenting technical and management solutions to internal and external executive level stakeholders, in a persuasive and convincing way. The successful candidate is a self-starter who will take ownership, who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, possess strong writing skills and comfortable in coordinating and interview SMEs to gather information to respond to Government requirements.
